Butler County, Ohio

Fiber Optic Backbone & Electronics Design

NI Solutions designed and engineered the Buter County, Ohio fiber optic ring consisting of over 100 miles of a fiber optic backbone. The fiber optic ring connects several cites including Evendale, West Chester, Hamilton, Fairfield, Middletown and Oxford. In 2004, the National Association of Counties
(NACo) awarded the Butler County Commissioners its prestigious Achievement Award for their contribution to the project. The award is given to county commissions nationwide whose innovative programs contribute and enhance county government.
 
Providing bandwidth to the community is a cornerstone of our new economic development strategy. To accomplish this, we are building a fiber optic backbone network of 96 strands of fiber extending nearly 100 miles throughout the county. The combined cost of this network is $8-10 million. Butler County is contributing $2.75 million to the project, with the remainder coming from a private business partner. The Butler County Fiber Network will deploy more than 9,000 fiber-miles throughout the county and connect every community in Butler County to a high-speed broadband network. The county will own 12 fibers, Miami University will own 12, and our business partner will own the re-mainder of the fibers. The "open-access" fiber system will assure market competition by allowing anyone wanting to offer telecommunications and information services to our community access to the system. Local businesses will be provided with needed bandwidth, prices decrease, and the introduction of new technologies to our market will be facilitated.

Regions that can attract, grow and retain firms and industries proficient at deploying information technology, in addition to producing it, will be at a competitive advantage. Fostering the development of an entrepreneurial culture and access to ven-ture capital, developing human capital through partnerships with local schools and institutions of higher education, having a community that scores high on the "quality of life" index and having a transportation infrastructure conducive to economic growth are all vital elements of a successful strategy.

With proactive participation from local government in meeting the New Economy challenges we can provide the infrastruc-ture necessary for our businesses to compete and create a network capable of improving education and employment opportunities for low-income residents. City of Linton, Indiana

Consulting / Fiber Optic Backbone & Electronics Design


NI Solutions has been assisting the City of Linton Indiana with vvarious telecommunication & design services since 2010.

  1. Assisted the City with selling their existing wireless system

Design of fiber optic cables attached to distribution lines which included
NIS provided the following telecommunications services:
1.  Review Technology Improvement Partnership proposal from Node 1 Technology Inc.

2.   Design Services for installing Fiber optic cable on Linton’s Distribution lines requested by Smithville Telephone Company

3.  Design Services for installing Fiber optic cable on Linton’s Distribution lines requested by Zayo Fiber Solutions

  • Condition of Poles (To determine if the poles are up to NESC Code)

  • Pole Clearance Issues (To determine if space is available in the communications zone)

  • Conduct pole strength calculations

  • Make recommendations and submit a preliminary design plan. 

  • Review Proposals / Negotiate with Vendors for fiber access

  • Smithville and Zayo wanted to connect to hospitals & schools in Linton. NIS successfully negotiated with both vendors to provide 12 fibers to the City in lieu of pole attachments. 

  • Provided City Attorney with writing draft IRU 

4.   Design Services

  • Connect all Linton sites with the leased fiber optic cable provided by Zayo and Smithville Telephone Compan

  • Design electronics

  • Inventory current Linton Poles and add to GIS database

  • Work with the City to develop a long term technology plan

  • Assist with gaining access to up-stream provider for low cost bandwidt

  • Assist with the possibility of working with other communities along the fiber path to work together to purchase wholesale bandwidth and other possible economic ventures that would help all communities along the path.

 

City of Danville, Indiana

Broadband Network Strategic Plan & Fiber Design


NI Solutions was hired by the Town of Danville, Indiana to evaluate the potential for Danville to develop a broadband communications network, utilizing a fiber optic backbone capable of offering customers cost-effective, highly integrated voice, data and video services with full interactive capabilities. The broadband network plan will investigate the internal and external goals of the town to effectively address their needs including costs, services offered, issues and concerns, and management options. Internal objectives of the broadband plan included the efficient and effective utilization of available resources to support quality services and delivery methods. External objectives include the extension and delivery of new services to residential, commercial, industrial, educational, and institutional customer segments. Danville used the plan to build-out their communications network. 

Village of Sherburne, New York

Engineering & Design Services

 

NIS developed a plan to connect Village buildings, Utility locations and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) sites with fiber optic connectivity. NIS was hired to assist the Village of Sherburne to develop a plan for broadband connectivity via fiber optics.

Town of Avon, Indiana

Broadband Network Strategic Plan


NI Solutions was hired by the Town of Avon, Indiana to evaluate the potential for Avon to develop a broadband communications network, utilizing a fiber optic backbone capable of offering customers cost-effective, highly integrated voice, data and video services with full interactive capabilities. Plainfield, Indiana

Broadband Network Strategic Plan / Fiber Design


NI Solutions was hired by the Town of Plainfield, Indiana to evaluate the potential for Plainfield to augment existing network to develop a broadband communications network, utilizing a fiber optic backbone capable of offering customers cost-effective, highly integrated voice, data and video services with full interactive capabilities. The broadband network plan will investigate the internal and external goals of the town to effectively address their needs including costs, services offered, issues and concerns, and management options. Internal objectives of the broadband plan included the efficient and effective utilization of available resources to support quality services and delivery methods. External objectives include the extension and delivery of new services to residential, commercial, industrial, educational, and institutional customer segments.

 

Cleveland Heights, Ohio

Wireless Project
NI Solutions was hired by the City of Cleveland Heights to assist the City Law Department with investigation of the potential for a City-wide Wi-Fi telecommunications system. The City of Cleveland Heights is interested in providing Wi-Fi Service throughout its commercial areas and public buildings, recreation areas and public parks, utilizing their existing fiber optic backbone. NI Solutions is to prepare a description of the services which the City of Cleveland Heights could expect to obtain from a Wi-Fi system and a description of the services which the public could expect to receive within the commercial and public areas.

 

City of Galva, Illinois
